Poolside Reading

Pink Think: “Real education consists in drawing the best out of yourself. What better book can there be than the book of humanity?” – Mohandas K. Gandhi

With temperatures soaring, it seems that my drive to write fiction has plummeted.

I still want to be a published novelist someday. But I’ll be honest with you, I do not feel like it is a compelling need right now.

What ever happened?

Summer, that’s what. It’s like my brain has shut off and I couldn’t care less.

I am, however, devouring books like crazy.

I take my daughter to art class in the city and I spend an hour and a half browsing books at the Barnes and Noble. Goodness, there are lots of interesting books out there!

I bought a book of poetry at the library sale for 25 cents and savor a poem here and there.

I take my youngest to swimming class and crack open my library book and try to even out my farmer’s tan.

I’m just crazy for books right now.

What are YOU reading this summer?

In my to-read stack: The Mysterious Benedict Society, Pocahontas, Memoirs of a Geisha, Angela’s Ashes. And lots of singer biographies. I am reading Loretta Lynn’s Coal Miner’s Daughter right now.
