Mo(u)rning Pages

Pink Think: “There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.” – Ernest Hemingway

I wish I could say I’m on top of the world
But it’s hard to see past the pages
and pages
and pages.

Of hard-scrabbling work and lonely hours
No guarantees even, and a million scars
Of almosts
just waits
and hang in theres.

Number four or is it five?
I’ve lost count as books tick past
Like a clock on the last turn
of a screw that I want to lose on purpose

because

it is that kind of day
where I write and write
yet I have little to show for
than just desire and some pages.
