Goodbye, Dog Days

Pink Think: “This is such a special summer holiday for me. I haven’t known myself so relaxed in years.” – Kylie Minogue

I suppose you could say I let the summer get away
But I like to think of it more that
I let myself get away with a delicious prank –

I bamboozled the adult in me
And played like a kid;
Relaxed instead of
taking myself too seriously.

Goodbye, Dog Days of Summer!
Time to put my head out of the clouds
And into the thick of work
If writing is work.

Which it can be
And in some ways not.

I get to spend some time, you see,
With a young man and a young woman
On an island which has its secrets
And see if they will stay true to themselves
Or not.

Another story
Another world
Another summer, not quite dog day,
re-lived.

To my readers who are also fiction-writers:

I found the perfect tool to help me transition from my summer holiday back into novel-writing: Weston Elliott’s The Complete Novel Plotting Workbook.

My writer-friend shared the concept with me a few months ago, and I got excited. On my other stories, I have so many notes here and there on different scraps of paper, it’s great to finally have one place I can put everything! And have questions guide me along paths that hadn’t even occured to me to deepen my characters and plot. At $9.95, it is affordable.

This is how it looks like; it fits nicely in a small bag, the middle console of a truck, a study table, the kitchen counter…

My only complaint is it does not come in pink. 🙂 But it does come in gorgeous purple!
