Temptation

Pink Think: “There are several good protections against temptation, but the surest is cowardice.” – Mark Twain

It was so very tempting, that apple. The skin was glossy, smooth and fragrant. I wanted to bite into it.

And so I did, Saturday. I bit into a new story, using my mirror post as a lead-in. And now I am in a quandary. Do I continue this story, or finish my revision on a historical novel?

I have revision-exhaustion. I am, to be honest, sick of the material. I just want it to be done and over. My characters have called in sick.

And songwriting, man. That’s another apple. I just completed a songwriting workshop where I learned a great deal.

Stayed up. Pulled my hair out. Didn’t think I could do it.

But when it was all said and done and I had a shiny new song, and, regardless of what anyone said about it, I felt like my imprint is on another work of art that reflects who I am.

I listen to songs on the radio and I think, hey, wouldn’t it be cool to write another song…?

*putting fingers in ears* I can’t hear you!

For me, it’s a new story. A new song.

What is YOUR apple? And how do you resist it?
