My Son

Pink Think: “Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid, one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory.” – Douglas MacArthur

My son is 14 but looks older. He’s already taller than my husband and makes reaching for things around the house look effortless. He’s funny and sweet, and really has been a breeze when everyone around rails against “those teenagers”. He opens doors for me and (most of the time) his sisters. He kind of ducks his head, embarassed, when I kiss him goodbye or goodnight, but he still lets me.

Someday, when (he lets on that) he’s discovered girls, I just hope they’ll be kind and gentle to this kind and gentle boy.
