A rare treat: taking my sister out to lunch
I am embarking on a crazy cooking adventure on Saturday. I am hosting a Philippine fiesta as a going-away for a couple who will be serving an LDS church mission in the Philippines. Armed with all these internet recipes, I will be cooking for two days, I kid you not…all my favorite Filipino dishes like:
sago and gulaman drink
lumpia (egg roll)
chicken curry
chop suey (mixed vegetables)
adobo
sinigang (pork and tamarind soup)
kare-kare (oxtail soup)
beef kaldereta (stew)
siopao (pork buns)
leche flan (caramel custard)
I am nervous and excited all at the same time. It’ll be yummy!

Another reason I’m excited to throw this party is because my sister is visiting from Ireland. And I wanted to make a yummy spread before she heads back to the Emerald Isles. My brother, who lives in the Philippines, was also here for the holidays.
