Choosing Happiness

Pink Think: “Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.” – Joseph Addison

My latest news:

I turned in my newspaper article two days early. No more obsessing over edits.

I put my book pitch for my YA historical novel Girl From Gurian on Book Roast. You have until 7 pm EST today to join in their Pitch Party with a real or fake book. Results to be announced at 9 pm.

Update: Out of so many entries (sorry I’m not going to count), where people posted 75-word book pitches in one day at Book Roast, an editorial assistant who blogs by the name of Moonrat picked my pitch as one of three she liked!

My pitch: When her lover does nothing to stop a rebellion against her father, an 18th-century Philippine princess flees into exile. Juzliza forges a new life and even finds a new love. Then the Spanish-colonial government imprisons her father for treason, so she sails south to negotiate his release. Her mission turns awry, but success is still possible…with her former lover’s help. Dare she trust him? Will fortune smile upon Juzliza as she confronts her past?

Moonrat’s comment: And if there’s an honorable mention, I would have LOVED to see Pink Ink’s book, but her pitch was a little disorganized, with too much information. I think in part this might be a 75-word problem.

So my pitch needs work, but she liked the book concept. Yay! This gives me the extra motivation I need to finish revising this novel and get it out there.

I can now add “lead singer of rock band” on my resume. I said YES. *squee* I’m gonna give it my best shot and just plain have fun!

I was at Wal-Mart wandering the aisles and pondering my decision whether or not to sing with a local rock band when I noticed something. Occasionally, I saw a smiling face, but for the most part, people looked weighed down, not looking happy at all. I wondered what dreams have bypassed them.

I think that is when I decided to go for it. I will do this fun new thing so that someday I won’t look back and wonder “What if…?”

I choose to be happy.

Life is good and filled with grand possibilities.
