I May Not Be Taylor Swift, But…

Pink Think: “What I’ve learned is not to change who you are, because eventually you’re going to run out of new things to become.” – Taylor Swift

Have you heard of ProBlogger’s 31-days-to–building-your-blog-challenge? I signed up for it and have been enjoying Darren’s helpful tips.

On to today’s post!

It’s taken me a while to find – and love- my own voice, whether singing or writing. I still get bogged down by envy, until I realize that it’s really a waste of precious time I could be spending pursuing my own dreams and bringing them to fruition. Like a friend once told me, someone is always going to be better than you, so why stress about it?

Instead of being down I don’t sing like Taylor Swift, I am grateful I can sing with my rock band. Instead of wishing I could write vampire romances like Stephenie Meyer, I am grateful I can write newspaper articles, essays and novels.

There’s only one Taylor Swift, just as there is only one me. She may be well-known and her star shines brighter, but I know I am a star in my own right. And I don’t mean a “star” as in fame and fortune. I mean that by being grateful for and using my God-given talents, I can illuminate my part of the universe.

I can contribute to the beautiful tapestry of stars that make up the night sky.

Imagine yourself as a star in the night sky. How can YOU shine in your own right today?
