I’ve joined the #100happydays challenge. Daily, for 100 days, I will post something that makes me happy. Today, I made (and ate) halo-halo. Yummy!
Halo-halo is a Philippine dessert that translates to “mix-mix”. In the past I would use bottled mixes, but on a recent shopping spree at the Asian store, I bought just my favorite ingredients (I skipped the beans). Here’s my homemade recipe:
Ingredients:
About 1-2 tbsp of each:
canned jackfruit, chopped
nata de coco (red, green and clear)
sago balls
ube (purple yam jam)
shaved ice
evaporated milk
one scoop vanilla ice cream
1. Layer the first four ingredients in bottom of glass.
2. Add shaved ice until about 2/3 of glass.
3. Pour evaporated milk to saturate the ice.
4. Top with ice cream.
5. Mix and enjoy!
Other fun ingredients you can add if you’d like: coconut string, sliced banana, pineapple, kaong beans.
Looks good!
