Today’s Pink Think of the day: “Don’t bunt. Aim out of the ballpark.” – David Ogilvy.
My family has this new favorite past time. We play baseball in the yard when we can. I usually bunt, which is easier. The harder hits — like my son’s — are unpredictable and exciting. He gets home runs most of the time.
Same goes for writing. The bunts — shorter periods of writing, housekeeping sort of details — take less effort, but the harder hits — the passages that pour forth in a scary, dizzying rush, when the muse and the desire are there — bring the most rewards.
I believe there’s room in one’s writing for both.
