Bang-Bang Birthday 4

Pink Think: “Because you don’t live near a bakery doesn’t mean you have to go without cheesecake.” – Hedy Lamarr

I turned 37 yesterday.

To celebrate, I ate at the Cheesecake Factory on Saturday with my husband, kids and my parents (who really would rather eat Chinese food any day, but were gracious enough to agree to CF). I had been to CF a long time ago, while I interned at DC and I remembered I was bowled over by all the cheesecake selections.

CF opened at Salt Lake City just recently and I’d been dying to try the place, so now was my chance. The place was packed and full of beautiful people (many women had flowers in their hair, very inspiring). We waited for over an hour and people kept streaming in from the next-door mall. (Note for next time: do not go on a Saturday night!)

I had their “Bang-bang chicken and shrimp” (I am still puzzling about what the name means) which was a spicy Thai dish with coconut and peanut sauce. This photo doesn’t do it justice, but it was delicious.

I tried some of my mom’s miso salmon, and I highly recommend it.

I was already stuffed, but of course I had to order cheesecake. I had “caramel pecan turtle”. Rich and good, but not as wonderful as my dad’s “vanilla bean”:

At $15-20 per entree ($30 for a steak!) and $7 for dessert, here’s my suggestion: go on a weekday and skip straight to the cheesecake.
