A Phantom of an Idea

I’ve had this Phantom of a story idea and I’m getting ready to tackle it. Yes, folks, I’m doing NaNoWriMo again this year. It’s a 50,000 word novel challenge in 30 days (the month of November).

Yup. I’ve thrown my hat in the ring and I’m excited! I haven’t been this excited about participating since I last won it in 2007. For those of you doing it, I am “Pink Ink” and would love to be your Buddy.

I have an idea of my story, and need to work on an outline between 2 kittens (who are integrating well into the household, I am happy to report), a daughter in high school that wants to try out for basketball and doesn’t drive yet, my Nov. 4 fundraising event, and all the November get-togethers everyone is trying to squeeze in before Christmas.

I used to drag my feet about joing NaNo, but this year, I can’t wait to flesh out my story idea. I’ve not been writing consistently lately and I crave a creative challenge.

Which brings me to the Phantom of the Opera.

Having recently discovered the 2004 movie starring Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum, thanks to my oldest daughter, I have decided I want to write a story with characters that seize you right from the first page and don’t let go. Like the Phantom.

No pressure.

Are YOU doing NaNoWriMo? Do you know what you’ll be writing about?
